Introduction

ENABLECARES is a joint initiative of leading biomedical research institutes around Europe to provide high-level training on open science, entrepreneurship and other transferable skills to junior researchers, with the aim of increasing thei remployability in academia or beyond. Through co-creation and train-the-trainers strategies, we have implemented a wide range of courses to empower young scientists and align their competencies to the new market demands. The training is complemented with personalised career advice.

Goals

At ENABLECARES our aim is empower young scientists to success in their career.

Enhance junior researcher careers.

At ENABLECARES we aim to strengthen  and consolidate existing training programmes for junior biomedical researchers with advanced skills on the fields of Open Science and Entrepreneurship.

Personalised career advice

We aim to provide junior researchers with personalised guidance to identify the skills that best match their interests and competencies and allow them to pursue their career of choice.

Versatile training strategy

We offer an adaptable training strategy that combines online and face-to-face training and tailors the content to the specific needs of each participant.

Consistent auto-evaluation

We assess the impact of ENABLECARES training on the professional career of its alumni to improve local training programmes.

Partners

IRB Barcelona

IRB Barcelona is a world-class research center devoted to understanding fundamental questions about human health and disease. The Institute’s missions include conducting multidisciplinary research of excellence at the unique interface between biology, chemistry and medicine, providing high-level training in the biomedical sciences, driving innovation through active technology transfer to the benefit of society, and actively participating in an open dialogue with the public through a series of engagement and education activities.

Radboud University

Radboud University is a leading Dutch university, known for its international orientation, wide range of academic disciplines, interdisciplinary research and push towards creating societal impact on regional, national and international levels. It includes 7 faculties, 15 research institutes and intensively cooperates with the Radboud University Medical Center (Radboudumc).

Radboudumc

The mission of the Radboud Institute for Molecular Life Sciences (RIMLS) is to achieve a greater understanding of the molecular mechanisms of disease. By integrating fundamental and clinical research, the institute obtains multifaceted knowledge of pathophysiological processes. To have a significant impact on healthcare, these findings are translated into diagnostics, therapeutics and personalized treatment strategies.

SEMM

The Scuola Europea di Medicina Molecolare (SEMM) is a private foundation established in 2001. Its mission is to promote training and research within emerging sectors of biomedicine. SEMM operates within 7 research centers of excellence bridging together higher education and front-line research training. SEMM covers virtually every aspect of modern Cell Biology and Molecular Biology, both from the basic and applied research points of view.

CPR

Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR) was established at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen to promote basic and applied discovery research on human proteins of medical relevance. CPR aims to assemble protein-related technologies with revolutionary potential for understanding the complex wiring of biological systems and disease processes. This is achieved by developing integrated protein technology platforms and management systems for large heterogeneous data to advance the understanding of complex protein networks in fundamental biology and disease.
