On 16-18 November 2022 the FEBS-IUBMB-ENABLE conference took place. It was hosted in in the historic city of Seville in Spain, at the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville (IBiS) a multidisciplinary biomedical research center within the complex that houses the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital, a center of high-level care, education and research.
The conference turned out to be a huge success, with 300 young researchers participating from 31 countries within and outside of the EU.
The ENABLE 2022 conference included a scientific symposium , outreach activities for the general public and a dedicated career day.
This was an ideal context for ENABLECARES to raise awareness among young researchers worldwide about the need to make science openly accessible. A round table on Open Science featuring ENABLECARES expert trainer Dirk van Gorp (Radboud University) generated broad discussion on the benefits of open access between worldwide researchers, editors and open science experts. ENABLECARES was also present on the career day, promoting its training methodology. ENABLECARES expert trainer in Research Data Management (Mirjam Brüllemans, Radboudumc) was also invited to take part as mentor on the career chats on Career day.
